Meditation for Thursday 25th July 2024

Meditation gives us the capacity to ‘smell the roses’ to free ourselves to enjoy the whole of life. When people are seriously ill and told they have a limited time to live, very often they talk about the preciousness of each moment and how everything in life, even those mundane, ordinary things become important. Things taken for granted become stark and real.

Being present in the now is the gift we hold dear and the gift we cultivate with meditation and mindfulness. In a world of clutter mindfulness is a precious jewel.

A wheel touches the ground at one point. When we are mindful we are focused on the point which is the present. We appreciate and savor the present moment. Without the encumbrance of the past and the anxiety of the future we experience freedom.

To be fully human and fully alive means being completely mindful of the present, to be alive to this moment, to be here now. When we live our life in the present moment those epiphany’s that once occurred occasionally become the stuff of living in the now.
