Meditation for Thursday 12th September 2024

There is wholeness and serenity about dwelling in the awareness of the present moment and the way we do that is through meditation complimented with everyday acts of mindfulness.

When we live our life in awareness we are living joyously with open arms and open eyes.

When we regularly practice meditation and mindfulness we begin to notice subtle changes in the way we look at others; the world and the way we see ourselves.

If we are distracted by self-congratulatory thoughts such as, “I’m pretty good at this meditation lark, I think I’ve made it!” we will soon realize that this is counter-productive because such thoughts transport us to the future, to a reward, to a big pay-off for our effort.

Perseverance and acknowledging that it is not perfection we are seeking will reap us the reward of seeing others and the world in general in a more kindly light. It will also help us to see ourselves as lovable.

The fruits of meditation and mindfulness can be subtle and take time, but in time and as our practice deepens and we travel this path we will begin to see and our hearts will open to the joy that surrounds us.

Now let’s meditate in a way in which we are most comfortable.
