For this month Janette has chosen the Tenth Revelation, Chapter 24 of the Long Text in relation to Christ’s wounded side and heart “cloven in two.” She will also add some context in relation to the chere of Christ that Julian refers to, that is, the countenance of Christ and the change Julian witnesses – drawing us into Joy!
You can read selections from the Long Text provided by Janette here.
About the facilitator: Janette Elliott is a University of Divinity PhD Candidate. Janette has been praying and working with the writings of Julian of Norwich over a thirty year period, which is also the subject of her PhD Thesis. Janette has been fascinated with Julian’s engagement with Christ in the context of an ‘anxious age’ not unlike our own, amidst personal struggles and life’s great challenges. Originally a teacher, and formed strongly in Benedictine spirituality, Janette seeks to share Julian’s ‘distilled wisdom’ to encourage and empower others to trust the Divine strength within them – grounded in the God of Love, Com-passion and Blessing – as Julian did.
