Austin Cooper OMI with talk about the wisdom of Teresa of Avila and its relevance for today. Wednesday 6 April, 10.30am – 12 midday

At first sight, a 16th-century Spanish Carmelite nun and someone living in today’s world might seem to be hopelessly remote and irrelevant to one another. Yet Teresa’s rich humanity, her gentle humour, and her deep love for the Lord still have about them a freshness that is both appealing and practical. Her wisdom still speaks to us with great appeal.

Reverend Professor Austin Cooper OMI, AM served as Master of Catholic Theological College for three separate terms and was once President of the Melbourne College of Divinity. In these capacities he has sat on many Boards and Committees in the Melbourne theological world. His principal interests have been the tradition of English Speaking Spirituality with special interest in the Oxford Movement and the 19th and 20th centuries. He has published extensively in these areas.
