The Divine Office, also called the Liturgy of the Hours, is the public, daily prayer of the Church consisting of psalms, hymns, prayers, readings from the early church Fathers and other writings. It is intended to sanctify the life of the Christian community. The prayer comes mainly from Scripture, using the psalms, OT and NT Canticles and Gospel Canticles.
