Dear Meditators                                                                                                               2 August 2022

For the last two weeks, we have reflected on some thoughts on Centering Prayer from Cynthia Bourgeault’s book, Centering Prayer and Inner Awakening, first on…intention, then letting go, and use of a sacred word…and today on… Centering Prayer’s transformative power.

  • Cynthia tells us that Centering Prayer has a very different understanding of silence. It is not an empty chalice waiting to be filled up with specific insights and directives. It is its own kind of perceptivity; it is more that we yield ourselves into it. What first appears like a “nothing” begins to be filled with its own light and intelligence, and this in turn carries us closer to our own hearts and closer to that mysterious place of interpenetration at the heart of all things.

As you begin to relax now in body and mind, slow your breathing, and enter your meditation, centering your prayer…and your desire for transcendence, of being in direct contact with God…spirit to Spirit, in a wordless union, the lover and the Beloved.

Love and every blessing  Kathryn
