Meditation for Thursday 8th August 2024

The energy of mindfulness brings calm into our life.

Mindfulness makes us alive in the present moment.

When we are present, life is present.

Vietnamese Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, or Thay as he was commonly called, gives an example of this in one of his writings.

1Thay says that suppose you are watching a beautiful sunset with others. Many are concentrating on the wonders of the sunset and contemplating nature’s beauty. But he says there are some in the group obsessed by worries and fears, so they are not really present. For those people the beauty of the sunset is not available.

Now that’s why we say that when you are present, life is also present.

Our appointment with life is in the present moment. We don’t want to miss that appointment.

Our appointment is now as we meditate in a manner in which we feel comfortable.
